Name: Enzo Perrin

Triathlon background

4 IRONMAN and 24-hour triathlons.

How old are you?

27

What do you think will be the toughest moment during the event?

In my opinion, the hardest part will be the final few kilometers of the channel crossing, when the French coast will be clearly visible but still far off.

Favourite discipline (run, cycle, swim) and why?

I love swimming because, in the water, your mind thinks differently—sometimes it even switches off.

It’s truly mesmerizing and fascinating to become one with the water, to use it to move forward rather than fight against it.

It carries us, and we have to merge with the element to move faster. It’s a win-win situation; I really love it.

Why do you push yourself to this level?

To experience the unique emotions—shared with the people I love—that only ultra-endurance sports can provide.

Also, to make “everyday life” easier and more enjoyable after voluntarily putting myself through situations of extreme discomfort.

What made you want to take on Arch2Arc?

I submitted my application in July 2023 to participate in the Enduroman. What I hope to gain from this adventure is a life full of adventure, a life full of emotions, and a life full of thrills, alongside the people I love.

Ultra triathlon has also taught me one thing: that life’s truly good moments are found in the simplest things. The experience of facing moments of extreme difficulty—mentally challenging situations where resilience is key—makes those simple moments truly precious.

Also, the race itself is a dream come true—a one-way journey between two capitals, a true story.

It’s not a loop like almost all other races, but a genuine journey of personal transformation.

Favourite post-training meal

I don't really have a favorite post-workout meal—as long as there's food and friends, that's all that matters.

How can people follow or support your journey?

Least favourite discipline?

Muscle building, no enjoyment during workouts, indoors ...

What does finishing Arch2Arc mean to you personally?

A strong sense of personal accomplishment.

Working hard toward a goal and achieving it brings a tremendous sense of fulfillment.

Hidden talent outside of sport

I haven't found it yet ...

What do you do for work?

I work in finance.

What does a typical training week look like?

Right now, I have 4 swimming sessions; we’ll soon be increasing that to 5, 4 running sessions, 3 cycling sessions, 2 strength training sessions.

Between 13 and 20 hours of training per week.

3 weeks of gradual ramp-up followed by one week of recovery.

Nationality / where you’re based

France - Valence

One word your friends would use to describe you

Smiling :-)

Who or what inspires you?

Everytime a human accomplishes the impossible I get super motivated and feel happy about the possibilities out there

What keeps you going when things get really tough?

Famous "whys" behind why I signed up for this race, because there isn't just one—there are several.

How are you preparing differently for this compared to other races?

My training for this race differs in several ways.

For one thing, the total training hours are on a completely different scale.

Also, the training schedule covers a wider range of times (training to run, cycle, and swim at night).

It’s also essential to practice fueling during such long events (especially while swimming...).

Furthermore, training to sleep is also a challenge; getting short nights of sleep to test how your body performs under fatigue is also valuable.

Any unusual or extreme training methods?

Not currently.

Have you ever wanted to quit during training? What got you through it?

If you give up even once, your brain registers that giving up is an option.

So I never give up; however, when necessary, I adapt the workouts the coach gives me—especially when my body stops responding.
