Portland, Dorset, UK

£150 per person for the weekend, which includes accommodation and swims with beach support.

For an additional fee, we will also have the use of a boat which can take up to 6 swimmers. The cost per swim from the boat will be £20 per person.

Arrival at the bunkhouse, introductions and a chance to discuss your objectives for the weekend. The Enduroman team will also give a brief run down of the swims planned for the weekend and safety briefing.

2 shorter swims a.m. and p.m. of up to 3 hours. The aim of these swims is for swimmers to experience different tidal and sea conditions.

Short seminar on feeding and mental preparation for long distance swims.

Early hours of Sunday morning

Possibility of a night dip leaving after midnight - tbc depending on conditions and interest.

A long swim of up to 6 hours. Support from the beach and kayak support (with the opportunity to practise feeding in deep water). This is a chance to get qualifying swims signed off.

Q&A session over pasta - ask away on any aspect of Channel or long distance swimming. For Arch 2 Arc athletes this is also a chance to clear up any unanswered questions on A2A logistics.

The camp ends on Sunday evening but athletes are welcome to stay on until Monday morning.

Final departure for remaining athletes.

The Portland Bunkhouse

The Old Transmitter Station

Portland Bill

Enduroman has sole use of The Portland Bunkhouse, a former Royal Navy transmitting station, for the weekend. The bunkhouse has incredible views, a fully equipped kitchen, a communal area for our seminars and a BBQ if the weather is good.

Accommodation is in bunkrooms which are military in feel, very clean and basic. Showers are shared, bedding is provided.

The Bunkhouse is usually very popular with divers and climbers but, to emphasize, we have sole use of all the facilities for this weekend. For more information on The Portland Bunkhouse, see the links below.

The camp is suitable for confident swimmers with some experience of open water. As a general guide, we would expect attendees to be able to complete the ironman swim distance of 3.8 km in less than 1h30.

The camp is strongly recommended for athletes attempting Arch 2 Arc in 2019 or 2020. As well as valuable sea training, it is an opportunity to get to know the Enduroman team, complete qualifying swims and ask any questions about the event.

All swims are optional. Estimated water temperature 11-12°c.

If you are in any doubt about whether the camp is suitable for you or if you have any questions at all, contact us!

To secure a place on the camp, please complete the Portland Camp Booking Form.

Enduroman will then contact you with payment details.
